Stock Pre-Market News This Morning- April 24th,

S&P 500 futures tiptoed higher on Wednesday morning following a surge in earnings that propelled the index to its second consecutive day of gains. Investors sifted through the latest financial updates from corporate entities, with futures linked to the broad index inching up by 0.13%. Meanwhile, Nasdaq 100 futures surged by 0.56%, while Dow Jones Industrial Average futures remained relatively steady.

In premarket trading, Tesla saw a notable uptick of over 12% after unveiling plans for a renewed emphasis on “more affordable” electric vehicle models. However, despite the excitement among retail investors, the tech giant fell short of expectations in its latest quarterly performance.

On a brighter note, Visa and Texas Instruments witnessed significant jumps of more than 2% and 6% respectively, buoyed by robust reports that surpassed market forecasts. These successes add to what has been a robust earnings season thus far, with over a fifth of S&P 500-listed companies having reported their results by Tuesday evening. Impressively, more than three-quarters of these have exceeded Wall Street’s expectations, according to FactSet.

Tuesday’s trading session marked another triumph for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite, both continuing their rebound from recent losses. The Dow also closed higher, gaining over 260 points or nearly 0.7%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq each saw increases of more than 1%.

Earnings will remain under the spotlight on Wednesday, with Boeing and Hasbro set to report before the opening bell, followed by Meta Platforms, Ford, Chipotle, and IBM after market close. Additionally, investors will keep a keen eye on morning economic data regarding durable goods.

In European markets, stocks opened slightly higher, with the benchmark Stoxx 600 index up 0.2% by 8:50 a.m. London time. The U.K.’s FTSE 100 saw a 0.4% climb after achieving another record close on Tuesday, while France’s CAC 40 dipped 0.1%, and Germany’s DAX rose by 0.2%.
