NVIDIA is set to launch its highly anticipated GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 graphics cards on January 30, 2025. However, the company has warned that these GPUs may be difficult to find at launch due to overwhelming demand.

According to NVIDIA’s head of GeForce community, Tim Adams, the company anticipates extremely high interest in the new RTX 50-series cards, which could lead to supply shortages. “We expect significant demand for the GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 and believe stock-outs may happen,” Adams stated. He reassured buyers that NVIDIA and its partners are continuously shipping inventory to retailers in an effort to keep up with demand.

Despite these efforts, some retailers and system builders have reported that RTX 5090 units may not be readily available until February, with potential delays lasting several weeks. Reports have already surfaced of eager buyers lining up at Microcenter locations in hopes of securing a card on release day. The GPUs will be available online and in select stores, including Best Buy and Microcenter, starting at 9 AM ET on launch day.

The RTX 5090 Founders Edition, priced at $2,000, promises a major leap in performance, featuring the new DLSS 4 technology, which uses AI to enhance gaming experiences. However, the high-end card also demands a powerful setup, requiring a 1,000-watt power supply to function optimally.
