After Winning the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election, President Trump has Already Started to Outline Plans Across Several Critical Policy Areas.

  1. Immigration: Trump is expected to intensify his previous focus on stricter immigration policies. He has pledged to complete the U.S.-Mexico border wall and initiate what he describes as the “largest deportation effort in history,” aimed at undocumented residents. This includes reintroducing a travel ban on specific countries, which he had previously implemented during his first term.
  2. Economy and Taxes: Trump’s economic vision includes measures aimed at boosting domestic production and reducing dependency on foreign imports. He plans to implement high tariffs on goods from countries like China and considers prohibiting U.S. businesses from investing in Chinese companies. His tax agenda includes significant cuts aimed at various income groups and businesses, although details on balancing this with federal revenue needs remain sparse.
  3. Foreign Policy: On global issues, Trump aims to redirect the U.S.’s role in international conflicts, particularly reassessing military and financial support to Ukraine. He has promised to bring an end to the conflict, though specifics are unclear. Additionally, Trump has expressed strong support for Israel and intends to crack down on U.S.-based pro-Palestinian protests, including actions against foreign students involved in demonstrations.
  4. Social and Domestic Policies: Domestically, Trump has pledged to advance conservative agendas on social issues. His administration plans to restrict gender-affirming care for minors, reinstate policies barring transgender individuals from serving in the military, and advance traditional definitions of gender in federal policy. Additionally, he supports measures like national health and wellness, cleaning up the food industries and food supply chains, expanded school choice, and loosening federal guidelines on vaccinations in schools.
  5. Environment and Energy: Trump has voiced skepticism of climate change policies, signaling a return to oil and gas dependency while cutting back on renewable energy investments, such as offshore wind. He has stated that he would end U.S. participation in international climate agreements, like the Paris Accord, for the second time.

This agenda signals a return to many policies from his first administration, with some additional hardline measures on immigration, trade, geopolitics, the economy, and social policies. These priorities are expected to be pursued immediately after inauguration in 2025.
